Shades of pink have been trending for awhile now (remember Pierpaolo Piccioli autumn/winter 2022 Valentino runway show?) but once pictures of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling surfaced filming the new live-action Barbie movie, Barbiecore was officially born. Celebrities were quick to get in on the new look including Lizzo in Maison Valentino at the screening of her new Prime Video series Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, Hailey Beiber in a bubble gum pink corset dress on Instagram, as well as Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway, Megan Fox, and the Kardashians.
What exactly is Barbiecore? It’s exactly what it sounds like—fashion inspired by the Mattel doll we all know and love. While head-to-toe hot pink hits the trend on the nose, a variety of different hues including blush, coral, and rose also count as embracing the newest “core” movement.
