Switch up your beach look with fresh ways to tie a string bikini
There’s something extra special about wardrobe pieces you can style in different ways and get tons of mileage out of. One you may not have thought of? The string bikini top. While you may only be aware of the most straightforward way, there are actually a number of fun ways to tie your top so that you get a totally new look. Not only that, but learning multiple ways, will allow you to find the most comfortable and flattering option for you.
Did you know that you can easily turn a triangle bikini top into a cross-back style? It’s a great way to alleviate pressure on your neck, plus it’s easy to do: Lay your bikini top on a flat surface and tie one neck string to the middle of the opposite side’s back string. Repeat with the opposite neck and back string. Finally, put your bikini top over your head and tie it like normal in the back and you’ll have a cross-back style that’s secure and comfortable to wear for hours on end. Your neck will thank you.
To convert a string bikini into an over-the-shoulder style, tie the straps that would normally go around your neck, to the strap that goes under your bust. Then, put your arms through converted over-the-shoulder straps and tie the two back straps together.
Okay, this is still a halter style (just like the normal way to tie a string bikini is), but it gives you yet another look for your bathing suit. Rotate your top so that the top of the triangle is facing the floor. Then, tie what used to be the under-the-bust strap around the neck and what was the over-the-neck strap behind your back. The result is a scoop-neck style that offers a similar amount of coverage as the original.
Consider trying a strapless bandeau look. Lay your bikini top on a flat surface and slide the triangles close together so that there’s just a 1 or 2” gap between them. Tie the under-bust strap into a bow, creating a small circle (aim for 2 – 4” in diameter) with each triangle on opposite sides, facing away from each other. Finally, secure the straps that once went around the neck behind the back and you’re good to go. This style might be tricky for larger-chested ladies, since a bandeau doesn’t have a great deal of support.
Not only are these various tying ideas ways to keep your suit secure, they help you get more mileage out of your bathing suit. One other thing worth noting: If you’re having a problem keeping your suit comfortably tied, you may be dealing with a fit issue. So, before you purchase, it’s always wise to make sure your swimsuit is the right size
