Ojai Vista Farm Is a Magical Retreat in the Mountains

A tranquil retreat among the Ojai mountains equipped with a pool, resident goat named Fable, and unmatched hospitality. What are you waiting for? Ojai Vista Farm is a working organic farm and luxury accommodation that considers its environment without sacrificing comfort or style. Located about two hours from Los Angeles, or 45 minutes from Santa Barbara, Ojai is where Southern Californians escape to get even more chilled out than they already are. To get in on some of that California magic, book your trip to Ojai Vista Farm and start daydreaming. Below is everything you need to know in our property review.

How we heard about Ojai Vista Farm:

Lots of Instagram scouting! Looking for the perfect location online and being fortunate enough to stumble across this incredible listing.

In a sentence, it’s:

A heavenly oasis that goes above and beyond your expectations.

Why it’s so special:

The property is nothing short of magical. Every detail was thoughtfully crafted into making our stay an experience we could never forget. In the mornings you can step outside into the crisp fog of the Ojai mountains and find yourself a lonely hammock in which to drink your coffee. In the afternoons you can bask in the sun by the minimally styled swimming pool and hot tub, and in the evenings you can gather on the beautifully styled outdoor terrace for a rustic dinner with your group that will probably make you feel like you just stepped into the tuscan countryside.

Our best insider tip:

Get to know your hosts! The owner of the property graciously gave our entire group an amazing tour where we visited her lavender bushes, made our own sage sticks, and even met the resident goat Fable, all while hearing her talk about her incredible life experiences. It made the trip that much more special to learn about the backstory of the property!

Best way to get there:

It is a bit of a trek to get to, but totally worth it. It’s probably most cost effective to fly into LAX, then either rent a car or order a car service to drive 2 hours into the Ojai mountains.

Don’t leave without:

Getting some quality quiet time in the hammock in the early mornings. I curled up with a light blanket, my coffee and a good book to watch the sunrise over the mountains.

With all the amazing personal and thoughtful touches, one can’t help but feel the love these owners have for their own property.

Good For Kids? Yes!

The house itself is definitely kid friendly! I wouldn’t recommend letting them roam alone outside though, as there is some wildlife that could be dangerous for little ones. (We saw a baby rattlesnake during one of our yoga sessions…) But nothing will bother you if you don’t bother it.

What to pack:

It depends on the time of year, but I would say pack COMFY. This house makes you want to become a bit of a recluse, simply because everything you could possibly need is already on the property, so you really don’t have to leave! Sweats, yoga pants, sweaters and comfy tennis shoes are my recommendation. The property is absolutely gorgeous, so you’ll want to walk around a lot. And pack your Summersalt swimsuit, because you can use either their heated pool or hot tub all year round!

Worth wandering off the property for:

Downtown Ojai. It’s quintessentially adorable, and worth checking out if you do decide you want to leave the property. It’s a very short drive to a cute bakery, coffee shop or restaurant.
